I whipped through this book with ease; it was a joy to read. For one thing, the fake boyfriend scenario is one of my favorite Rom-Com storylines. I think my favorite part is that Nikki is rough around the edges, but still completely lovable. I’ve previously read I Have Never (the second in the series). And while there are references to things that happen in that book (Blair is Nikki’s best friend, and she was the heroine in I Have Never), A Christmas Date still reads as a stand-alone book.

Camilla Isley has a knack for flushing out characters and delivering believable chemistry in a short period of time. There were multiple times when I found myself smiling or chuckling out loud. What I found most endearing was that Nikki found support not only in Diego, but also in Blair. It’s so refreshing to see women supporting women. Also love that Blair got Diego’s fingerprints before allowing him to temporarily live with Nikki because at first I was like Nikki is crazy for suggesting they live together!

My only sadness with this book is that it ended at 91% on my kindle (because there’s a preview of another of the author’s works afterward). With that, I was not mentally prepared to say goodbye! I thought maybe there was an epilogue coming or just a few more precious Nikki/Diego moments. That aside, I’m very much looking forward to the next book in the series, To the Stars and Back.

Nikki isn't a fan of the Christmas season. Her boss always closes the company during the Christmas holidays, thus leaving her no excuse to not be with her family. Ever since she met Paul in college Nikki secretly has a crush on him. Even when he was off limits because he was dating her sister Julia, her feelings for him didn't go away. When Julia tells Nikki that she and Paul are engaged and that he'll be spending the holidays with their family, Nikki has no idea how she is going to survive the Christmas days. Can Nikki find a way to make the upcoming days more bearable?

After talking with her best friend Blair, Nikki decides to hire a fake boyfriend who'll accompany her to her parents house. This way they won't see her as the pathetic single and she won't have to endure her mom's comments. Luckily Nikki works at an advertising agency so she has a whole database filled with good looking actors. To annoy her sister she searches for an actor who has all the characteristics her sister would look for in an ideal boyfriend. Diego is the perfect match. Diego agrees to be her fake boyfriend during the holidays but can they fool Nikki's family?

Nikki feels like she always needs to compete with her beautiful sister. To her Julia, is perfect in every single way. When Julia started dating Paul, Nikki's heart shattered. She never thought that she'd find another man who'd make her feel the same way but spending time with Diego is heart warming. Nikki works hard, is a perfectionist and keeps most people at arms length. Even though she is a bit of a Grinch I had a connection with Nikki from the start. I was wishing for her to find the courage to open up her heart for love again.

A Christmas Date is a feel good love story filled with humor and Christmas festivities. I absolutely love Christmas and I truly believe it's the most magical time of the year. Nikki's family loves Christmas as well and her mom went into full decorating mode. I could easily imagine what the house looked like and I wish I could visit Nikki's family as well. Unwrapping presents around the Christmas tree always fills my heart with joy and I couldn't wait to find out more about the blossoming love between Nikki and Diego. Camilla Isley never disappoints her readers with her lighthearted romantic novels and A Christmas Date is another fun and sweet story that I highly recommend.
Nikki has been in love with Paul for many years since they were teenagers but when Paul started dating her younger sister Julia a couple of years ago she knew he was out of bounds forever and it broke her heart.

When her sister announces, just before Christmas, that the two are engaged Nikki puts on a brave face but is absolutely devastated. Then she learns that when she goes home to her parents for Christmas the loved-up Julia and Paul will be staying too, upset about being around the pair for a week she takes drastic action.

Nikki hires male model Diego, to be her ‘boyfriend’ for the holidays and with Diego being Julia’s ideal man, Nikki is even more impressed with her choice as she can’t wait for her sister to be so jealous of her. But will her plan work?

I love Camilla Isley’s books as they bring together lots of humour, great characters and romantic moments that are always bursting at the seams. A Christmas Date is no exception.

From opening the first page to the very last, I was addicted. The bickering sisters, parents who are at the ends of their wits with their daughters, a handsome fake date and the best, best friend a girl could ask for, plus a dog that thinks he’s a cat!! What’s not to like?

This book is pure enjoyment the whole way through. The plot was a little predictable at times, but this didn’t lessen my enjoyment as Camilla’s writing style is so engaging and exciting.

This is the third book in a series, though it can be read as a stand-alone too. It wasn’t until I was partway through that I realised that I had read book two in the series as well – Doh.

If you love rom-coms this is the book to read, especially at this time of year with it being set over Christmas. It is just delightful. It is also heart-warming too and will put a smile on your face.
