I LOVED this story. First we have the hero. he is a tanned, sexy, rugby playing firefighter. 6'4": of muscle, charm and good looks. He is all that and a bit more!! OMG this guy was something else. However, he is a player. Not serious about settling down or ever marrying. He is known for his short term romances and leaves behind a crying female!! They all fall in love and think they will be the one to tame him.

The heroine is a professor at University in England. She is fair skinned, up-tight and quite the fragile looking gal. Not his type at all. however, the first time he sees her he falls off his surfboard. Her sister challenges her to have a holiday fling with the sexy firefighter. Not her type at all but she is a long way from home, in need of a little male companionship and decides it might be just the thing. These two wind up on the first night they meet for a little "sex on the beach". It is fireworks from that point on.

There is a big problem - well the one besides her mother!!! Man is she ever the nightmare from hell. But, she lives in England and he lives in New Zealand and she is only in town for 2 weeks. Their story is GREAT. I could hardly put my Kindle down. I loved these characters and the storyline. It was about the two of them, the issues they had to face and how they worked their way through them. This is my favorite kind of story. I definitely recommend this one. When these two come together there are some sexy scenes so bring your fan!! Great read. I loved it.

I love all the characters in this book. Except the heroine’s mother she was dreadful. I absolutely love Neon and Merle. Although there was a lot of sex which isn’t problem it’s just often times authors try to fill a book with sex and not enough of a story. This author however gave readers both. Sex and chemistry and getting to know each other. I laughed along with the characters. They were a little to bold at times for me but it was a good story. My favorite part was how Neon won Merle back.
I've read other books by this author, and have enjoyed them all. This one, though, I just couldn't get into. It started off really, really slow. Then there was all those long detailed descriptions of everyone and everything, so much so, that I repeatedly lost track of what they were talking about in the first place. I won't give up on this author, because the other books I've read were really good. This just must of been one of those times where the author and I just didn't jive. It happens sometimes, so it's all good.
I have loved every single one of Serenity Woods books that I have read. I keep thinking one will be not so good and I can tear it apart--but this isn't that one! I normally don't care for instalove books, but this had do much going on that it seemed like Merle and Neon had been together forever. And the way Serenity us able to get us to know and understand their characters without beating us over the heads with it just makes me happy! And now it is 3 am and I have to get up in 4 1/2 hours. It IS that good and you will love Merle and yummy Neon no matter what time of day or night you read this book!
I enjoyed this book. Merle and Neon started as two people attracted to each other out to have a good time. Through eventual growth of their own and help from family, they finally realized their true feelings.

This is a very enjoyable story. I liked both Merle and Neon and enjoyed their story.

Merle is a history professor at a University in the UK. Merle's father died a few years back and after her mother got cancer, Merle moved in with her to take care of her. Although the cancer has passed, Merle's mother keeps a strangle hold on her with guilt and possibilities of the cancer coming back at any moment. Merle's sister fell in love with a man from New Zealand and moved away so Merle decides to visit her for the holidays and to get a break from her mother.

Neon is a firefighter in New Zealand and his cousin is married to Merle's sister. Neon is considered commitment shy but it doesn't help with women start expecting a commitment after only dating him a few weeks. Neon envies his cousin's wife but doesn't know if he'll ever find the right woman for him.

Neon and Merle meet almost as soon as she gets to her sister's place. Merle's a bit more uptight than Neon is used to but there's something about her that attracts him. Merle is attracted to Neon as well and when they both get pushes to hook up (Merle from her sister and Neon from his cousin) they both start considering the possibilities. Merle's only in town for a short time so there's a preconceived idea that their connection can't go anywhere so when they do hook up, it's just for the night.

Of course the attraction is is still there and when they encounter each other again later in Merle's visit, it becomes evident they both want more. So they extend their arrangement and explore something temporary while Merle sees the sights. Merle does love New Zealand but it's a bit of a nagging issue in the story that her "responsibility" to her ailing mother has to override Merle's possibilities for happiness. This does cause some drama, along with Neon being a bit thick headed. But a discussion and a discovery helps things along and in the end, Merle and Neon are together and heading towards a HEA.

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Merle overall and although I didn't like what her mother was putting her through, I could completely understand why she had trouble shrugging off her assumed responsibility. Neon was a good guy and I liked him. He did put his foot in his mouth and was a bit thick headed but really, I didn't think those issues were that major and he did the right thing, making a big effort in the end. Overall, this story was pretty good and I really liked the characters so I would recommend it. )
The story is sweet, interesting, humorous and engaging, and I liked the hero and heroine. The reasons this didn't get the fifth star for me are first, I don't find anything romantic about a guy lifting a woman against her will and carrying her out of a public place when she won't talk to him (apparently most readers do like it). The second is that if her mother is indeed clinically depressed, expecting her to snap out of it after giving her an ultimatum is futile and cruel. She needs to be dragged to a psychiatrist or psychologist and get help. Depression is already a misunderstood malady. Scenes like this just make it worse.
